The most widely accepted theory is that the name derives from green stones brought back from South America in the 18th century, which were most likely jade or nephrite.<\/p>\n\n<h2>How to Tell It Apart from Turquoise and Jade<\/h2>\n<ul>\n  <li><strong>From turquoise:<\/strong> amazonite has sharp white veins, often in a grid or parallel stripes, while the matrix of turquoise is brown or black and branching. This is a common, stable, and legitimate practice that must be disclosed; however, the wax is sensitive to heat and solvents, and may dull over the years.<\/p>\n\n<h2>How to Care for It<\/h2>\n<p>Lukewarm water and mild soap, soft cloth. \ud83d\udd34 Ultrasonic cleaners should be avoided: the vibrations work along the cleavage planes and, on waxed stones, can also strip the treatment.
