Coscia Gioielli: since 1919, the true pearl from Asia to the world

AAntonio Cicala April 30, 2026 2 min read

There is a date in the archives of Coscia that speaks louder than a thousand descriptions: 1919. It was the year Vincenzo Coscia left Torre del Greco, the Vesuvian city where the art of goldsmithing has deep roots, and embarked on a journey to Mozambique. On the African beaches, he found cornelian shells, the best for producing cameos. A journey that became history, and that history became a brand.

A century of pearls: from Torre del Greco to the seas of the world

Coscia Gioielli is today one of the most authoritative brands in the world in the luxury pearl jewelry sector. Since 1919, the family has explored markets in New York, Cape Town, Sydney, Tokyo—wherever the rarest and most precious pearls were found. The 1950s saw his son Vittorio specialize in Australian and Japanese cultured pearls. In recent decades, Giancarlo Coscia has modernized the company to meet the challenges of the global market.

Today, Coscia has its operational headquarters at the modern Il Tarì goldsmith center in Marcianise, Campania—one of the most important goldsmith hubs in Europe. Here, over a century of tradition meets the most advanced production technologies.

Coscia pearls: Akoya, Tahiti, Australian, Freshwater

Coscia selects the finest pearls of each type. The Japanese Akoya, perhaps the most well-known, originate from the Pinctada Martensii in the Japanese bays and are distinguished by their luminous orient and almost perfect surface. The Tahiti pearls, dark and iridescent, are among the most sought-after in the world. The Australian pearls, the largest and rarest, reach extraordinary sizes. The freshwater pearls, more accessible yet always of selected quality, complete the offering.

Each creation is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that guarantees its origin and quality. Coscia evaluates its pearls according to five fundamental criteria: shape, size, color, surface, and orient.

Coscia collections and internal brands

Within the Coscia universe, different souls coexist. The main brand offers collections in 18-carat gold with Akoya, Tahiti, and Australian pearls, often paired with diamonds for compositions of the highest jewelry. Two internal brands complete the offering: LeLune, which encapsulates elegance in simplicity with classic jewelry with a contemporary touch; and LeLune Glamour, designed for the modern, dynamic woman who combines fashion and sophistication.

The pearl: timeless elegance

Coco Chanel, Marilyn Monroe, Jacqueline Kennedy—every style icon has found in the pearl its symbol. Today, Angelina Jolie and many others continue this tradition. But Coscia does not only look to the past: its collections reinterpret the pearl in a modern and contemporary way, making it suitable for everyday elegance.
