Torre del Greco cultured pearls and diamonds in 18kt gold: the two sides of LeLune.

In Torre del Greco pearls have been worked since long before the word
«design» existed: Coscia was founded there in 1919, and out of Coscia comes
LeLune, the brand that turns that craft into jewellery made to
be worn every day. Two collections, two ways of meaning the same thing:
LeLune Le Perle — necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings in
freshwater cultured pearls and 18kt gold — and LeLune Diamonds,
where gold meets natural diamonds in the classics of fine jewellery: solitaire,
trilogy, eternity, diamond stud, tennis bracelet.
Coscia is a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council:
gold and stones come from traceable supply chains. Every piece is made in Italy
and arrives with an international warranty and a certificate of authenticity.
A pearl necklace is not a string of identical beads. Freshwater cultured
pearls grow inside a mussel, and no two come out alike: whoever strings them has
to choose them by diameter, by lustre and by shade, then thread them so the
strand falls softly and the step from one pearl to the next does not show. That
is the work done by hand in Torre del Greco for a century, and it is how LeLune
still does it.
Sizes run from the 3.5 mm of everyday strands to the 8-9 mm of occasion
necklaces, and the collection also includes baroque pearls, the
ones that are not spherical: each has its own shape, and the piece that comes out
of them looks like no other. Clasps and elements are always 18kt gold, never
plated.
The Diamonds collection is made of pieces you recognise without explanation.
The solitaire ring, with the four- or six-prong setting that
lifts the diamond clear of the band. The trilogy, three stones in
a row, the one you give when you mean something specific. The anniversary
eternity ring and the riviera ring, which sits
halfway between solitaire and eternity. The diamond stud, at the
neck and on the lobe, the first diamond you give and the last one you take off.
And the tennis bracelet, with diamonds in a continuous line all
around the wrist.
The diamonds are natural, not lab-grown. The gold is 750/000 — 18 carat —
nickel-free and hypoallergenic, in white, yellow or rose depending on the
model.
Four things, in this order. Lustre: a good pearl reflects the
window like a slightly misted mirror, a weak one looks like chalk.
Surface: there are always some marks — that is how you recognise
a real pearl — but there should be no crack. Shape: round costs
more, baroque costs less and shows more. Diameter: under 5 mm
the necklace is discreet and goes with everything, over 7 mm it becomes an
occasion piece.
Colour is not a measure of quality but of skin: creamy white suits everyone,
natural pink lights up fair complexions, grey works on darker ones. If you need a
hand with this, write to us: a person answers, not a
form.
Pearls go on last, after perfume and cream, and come off first. Clean them
with a soft dry cloth and store them away from other jewellery, because the
surface is real nacre and it scratches. Keep them away from alcohol, vinegar and
detergents. A necklace worn often lasts longer than one kept in a safe: the
natural moisture of the skin does them good.
Every LeLune piece arrives in its original box with an international warranty
and a certificate of authenticity, plus a 24-month Cicala Gioiellerie warranty.
